VISION

BUD & BLOOM is a community learning centre designed for children from underserved and underprivileged communities around India. We imagined an agnostic multi-functional space with a potential to that fosters both individuality and collaboration. It is a space where achievements are celebrated, and failures are shared without fear of judgment.

The pavilion is imagined as a safe emotional space. In the bustling world that children often navigate, this pavilion provides a retreat—offering respite from the demands of home life while giving them the opportunity to grow both academically and socially. This design is intended to give children the freedom to explore their creativity, build self-confidence, and forge meaningful connections with others.

DESIGN

On the ground, pod-like spaces allow children to study or relax individually. The screens between the pods can be opened for group collaboration and interaction. The ground plane is fully barrier free and accessible.

The Rise is a dynamic sweeping plane that symbolizes the momentum of the local community. Vibrant and colourful flooring marks the pavilion from a distance. The effortless slope of the plane encourages public participation.

The pavilion itself will be draped in colourful metal fabric façade that shimmers ever-so-slightly in the breeze and reflects the community’s vibrant transformation!

The pavilion has a simple structure and can be in a variety of urban or rural settings as the need presents itself.
